Setting multiple rushing records, the Seahawks Colts team were victorious 36-18 over the Sydney University Cubs.
The Seahawks over-came numerous penalties on the back of a huge rushing performance. 364 yards on just 20 combined carries eclipsed the 288 yards set in round one of this year against the Cubs and 284 yards from 2010. Running Back Oli Tamoura finished with 188 and QB Justin Whiting 174. Those performances represent the 7th and 9th best in Seahawks Colts history.
Up 22-6 at half time, the Seahawks scored first to go up by 3 touchdowns and establish a comfortable lead. The game was slowly heavily by multiple penalties which distracted from some fine performances. Seahawks defenders forced 3 fumbles. Linebacker Cooper Sly who returned from a long injury lay off had an excellent strip and fumble recovery, Safety Ned Rickard had another.
Lineman John Englezos rarely left the field; his ironman performance included multiple pancake blocks as well as tackles for loss and a sack.
The win was the 10th semi final win from 10 attempts for the Seahawks, that’s right no Seahawks Colts team has ever lost a Semi Final. It also sets up for a chance at a 4th straight Championship. The total turnover of players since 2013 is testament to the coaching staff and their establishment of a perennial program of success.
The Championship Game will be this saturday December 3rd at Leichhardt Oval 11am against UTS. In the earlier game this year between the 2 teams the Seahawks won 28-20 in arguably the toughest game of the year.
