September 10th 2015,

Preparations for game #2 vs Lamar are going as planned. By the sounds of it the Bears are relatively healthy, just going to miss LB Taylor Young for a few weeks with a collarbone fracture.

Blake is ready to go and will start his 26th career game on saturday again at Left Guard. The game will be on Sunday morning Australian time at 9.30am. Streams will be available online in the usual places as the game will not be televised here.

Also, here is a short interview from the Waco-Tribune with Blake.

September 7th 2015,

Some of Blake’s better plays from the SMU game in gifs

Split zone, stayed on the block just enough to stop the covering tackle and the back was able to extend.

Split zone on the goal line.

One of Blake’s better plays, stay on the block and keep your feet moving to wall off the defender.

Inside zone read, edge defender crashed,

Playaction off power, picked up the run fit and gave Qb Seth Russell time to throw the back shoulder fade.

Also, it should be noted that the penalty called on Blake for being illegally down field should not have been called and when you look at the still frame, you can see that he was NOT more than 3 yards past the line of scrimmage when the ball had left the QB’s hand.

September 6th 2015,

The Baylor Bears opened their 2015 season with a 56-21 victory at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

The teams traded early touchdowns before the Baylor defense was able to shut out the Mustangs in the 2nd half. The offense had 723 total yards and QB Seth Russell threw 5 TD. A full account of the game can be found here.

Blake played very well, started at Left Guard and also played Right Tackle at the beginning of the 4th quarter. Some highlight gifs will be posted later in the week. The Team will play their home opener vs Lamar next week.

Well we’ve made it through the off season, the preseason and into game week.

This friday night (saturday 9am Sydney time) Baylor will begin its 2015 campaign with an away game against Southern Methodist Univeristy (SMU).

SMU are actually an old rival of Baylor’s going back to the South West Conference (SWC) days; a precursor to the Big 12 conference.

A link to the Baylor Athletics page with interview of Coach Art Briles can be found here.

Blake will start at Left Guard this week, which will be his 25th career start and going to SMU adds to his list of away game traveling which is currently as follows….

2011 Seattle/Washington, Las Vegas/Nevada, Ruston/Louisiana, San Jose/California, Moscow/Idaho.

2012 Los Angeles/California, Provo/Utah, San Diego/California, Fort Collins/Colorado, Fresno/California, Colorado Springs/Colorado.

2014 Buffalo/New York, Ames/Iowa, Austin/Texas, Morgantown/West Virginia, Norman/Oklahoma, Arlington/Texas x 2

2015 Dallas/Texas, Arlington/Texas, Lawrence/Kansas, Manhattan/Kansas, Stillwater/Oklahoma, Fort Worth/Texas

That will end up being 22 different away venues on travel squads, plus where ever their bowl games ends up being.
